My #1 ACCESSORY Exercise For CrossFit Beginners

For a CrossFit beginner, there are so many new things to focus on that it can become overwhelming. There are a wide variety of different movements and skills to learn, let alone the physical requirement needed to perform them correctly. In this video I share with you my number one accessory exercise that is a MUST for everyone at my gym that is starting CrossFit for the first time. CrossFit is challenging. There has never been a person that has walked into one of the gyms I’ve coached at and became a superstar right off the bat. No matter a person’s athletic background, (or lack thereof) there will always be a few movement patterns that are a real challenge for them. Even though everyone is different will all experience individual roadblocks, the biggest trouble are I see for people is their overhead mobility. It can affect your pull ups, presses, overhead squat, or a combination of all of them! This is when band pull aparts come into play and can be a big game changer! About 7-8 out of the 10 people that sign up at my CrossFit gym come in with bad posture. With the band pull apart it helps pull the shoulder back by strengthening the trap muscles, helping to keep the shoulder from rounding forward. Hit the sets and reps mentioned in the video at least 3 times a week (but every day wouldn’t hurt!) to notice a big difference on your shoulder placement / posture! Also try to be more conscious of your posture at work, while driving, sitting at the coach to make a long-lasting affect.
