My goal from day one with my First Gen was to make it last as long as possible. So far I have added various aftermarket parts in the spirit of longevity and in this video I install probably the best upgrade that will keep my 12 valve running well past 1,000,000 miles. AMSOIL produces some of the best synthetic products on the market including their bypass oil systems. These systems are designed to take a small percentage of oil from a pressure source, run it through a low flow 2 micron absolute filter, and send it back into the engine. Over a short period of run time, most, if not all of the oil has eventually been filtered down to 2 microns. This means even the soot from diesel combustion is filtered out. Unfortunately, they do not manufacture direct bolt on kits for First Gen Cummins trucks in the same fashion as they do for later models. That is why in this video, I will show you how I installed an AMSOIL single remote bypass oil filter on my Cummins along with an engine flush, oil change, and Fumoto valve install for future oil changes.
