Ingersoll Scovill I05001 Bronze Cased Watch

UPDATE: After trying a couple watch straps out and measuring the original buckle and lug width, it seems my initial assessment and the website specs are off. I noticed this after a 22mm Zulu left lots of space left between the lugs. The lug width measures 24mm and the buckle width measures 22mm. This video is meant to showcase an unboxing of the Ingersoll Scovill Radiolite with Bronze Case. I own maybe 28 watches of various makes and materials, but I've never owned a bronze watch before. Many bronze watches start at fairly high prices, around $1500 or so, and go up in price from there. There are exceptions out there and this is one of them. There are other options, with Steinhart being one of the most prominent makers of bronze watches under $600. So why did I buy an Ingersoll over the obvious Steinhart options? I'm having sort of a love affair with Timex lately. I love my Marlin reissue and my steel Timex Welton TW2R88000VQ. I also love to explore the history of watchmaking, and obviously Timex had a lot to do with American watchmaking way back when they were The Waterbury Clock Company. Ingersoll also has a long history AND ties to Timex because The Waterbury Clock Company used to manufacture Ingersoll products. More recently, Timex signed a deal to be the distributor for Ingersoll in the USA, intertwining their history again. So my Timex passion led me to search the Ingersoll website and I found this bronze beauty! I'm sure that many people in the watch community turn up their noses at Ingersoll today since they manufacture in China and some of their models use Chinese made "Sea-Gull" movements, but I'd say they are missing out on some great designs. The specs for this watch are here, but the site says the strap is 20mm and it's actually 22mm lug to lug width and 20mm at the buckle. See update at top of page for new info https://www.ingersoll1892.com/pages/d... As a reference, it uses a Miyota movement and is heavily based on the 125th Anniversary Ingersoll bronze set that was a limited run. The script on the dial is different, but otherwise I see no difference. If I had to complain, I'd say for this price a sapphire crystal would be nice but I'm careful with my watch glass anyway. If I scratch it I'll throw a sapphire on there or maybe an acrylic for a more retro look. Also, some lume on the bezel or a "pip" would be welcome. I love the color, the material, the indices, the script, the exhibition caseback, the fat vintage Horween strap, the screw-down crown, and the thin bezel design! Plus, I have something different from all the Steinharts out there 😉. Can't wait for the patina to show. My wrist is 6.75", fyi. Purchased for well under the msrp through Zeitlounge.com. Excellent communication and service. Hope this helped someone out there make a decision!
