Hello friends! My greataunt gave me a vintage mailorder box full of crafts. And my patrons voted that I would attempt to use the cold water textile dyes that came in that box. So, here we are; we are attempting a batik dye on a thrifted linen dress. Does that make it a thriftflip? We are trying batik, which is an ancient technique of resist-dyeing. By putting beeswax on your cloth you protect some parts from the dye, and thus creating patterns. You can draw with a pen or stamp the pattern on. We're doing the latter today with some stainless steel cookiecutters in the shape of dinosaurs. Because this Barbie loves dinosaurs. The project doesn't entirely go to plan, but I think the endresult is still cute. What do you say?
