Making an Odd Sized Table for a Breakfast Nook

Hi everyone! With Hurricane Dorian heading this way, I wanted to get this video out before potentially losing power. I skipped the voiceover again but if you have any questions, please let me know! Below is a little description of the project. This table was custom built to fit the little nook in a house that is undergoing some heavy remodels. I visited the site to get accurate measurements and then got to building. The turned base was purchased by the client from Classic Woodworks of Michigan; it was super high quality and well built....and heavy! I was responsible for building the top, paint, assembly, and delivery. The top is made of 8/4 soft maple. We chose this over poplar for some more longterm durability. The table is an odd shape so I laid it out as best as I could to conserve material. I glued up sub assemblies so that I could re-mill them each step. This also kept more space in my shop open for other stuff. I used the tracksaw to joint the edges and to cut out the final shape of the table. There was a ton of sanding to do before paint but it wasn't too bad. The round piece of plywood acts as the bracket to connect the base to the top. The holes are enlarged to allow for seasonal wood movement. The colors are Sherwin Williams White for the top and Vanillin for the base, which match the house perfectly. Thanks for watching!
