Tungnath Temple located on this mountain, the Tungnath Temple is situated on the height of fourteen thousand ft. This is the Tungnath Temple situated at the highest elevation of Panch Kedars. And it is Shiva's highest temple in the world. This temple is believed to be 1,000 years old. Here one of the Panch Kidars of Lord Shiva is worshiped in Tungnath form. It is said that due to the massacre in Kurukshetra, Shiva was angry with the Pandavas. The Pandavas built this temple to please Shivaji. Akshakamini River is formed by the top of Tungnath. It is situated at a distance of 3 kilometers from the temple. This area is one of the most beautiful places of Garhwal Himalaya. In the months of January-February this area is usually covered with snow sheet. But in the months of July-August, it is worth seeing the velvety grasslands spread over miles and the beauty of flowers blooming in them. That is why experienced tourists compare it to Switzerland.
