Marx explained four forms of alienation: Alienation from the Product of Labour The worker produces goods, but these goods do not belong to him; they are owned by the capitalist. Alienation from the Process of Labour Work is not done freely or creatively. The worker has no control over how work is done and performs it under compulsion. Alienation from Species-Being (Human Nature) Humans are naturally creative and conscious beings, but repetitive, mechanical work reduces them to mere survival. Alienation from Other Workers Capitalism creates competition among workers, leading to isolation rather than cooperation. In short, Marx argued that capitalism turns work into a burden, making workers feel disconnected from their labour, society, and themselves.
