Some times when threading a hole it is challenging to get the tap started and maintain the correct positioning of the tap so that it is parallel to the hole. This video gives you a simple DIY tool that when used with a tap makes the process so much easier, and results in a perfectly tapped hole every time. To the Machinist purest among you, I realize this is not the “correct” or “best” way to do the job. A tap block is the correct tool and if you are in a well stocked machine shop or somone going through trade school you will make/have one, but if you are a hobby machinist or fabricator, this is a simple little trick that for almost no money will quickly and easily give you a tool that is functionally almost as good as a tap block.
