The Senate has voted 52 to 48 to confirm President Donald Trump's pick of Tulsi Gabbard as the director of National Intelligence. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote alongside the Democrats to oppose Gabbard's confirmation. Gabbard was a Democrat until 2024, when she switched to the Republican party. She is a lieutenant colonel in the National Guard, deployed twice to the Middle East, and she ran for US president in 2020.
