Basin Street Blues is one of the most famous early jazz tunes. In this violin tutorial I run through the melody of the verse and chorus, suggesting how best to adapt it for the jazz violin. I then look at three different approaches to soloing. Firstly I try the B flat major blues scale throughout. Secondly I carefully follow each chord, and thirdly I centre the solo around a few key notes within the melody.
