Jesus Did So Much More... | Beyond the Walls | Nov 23 2025

Why does the Gospel of John insist on Jesus’ divine identity through the “I Am” statements, and what are we to make of its closing line that he did so much more? Join us as we conclude our exploration of the fourth gospel, looking back at what we have learned throughout the year. When Moses stood before the burning bush and asked to know the name of the God of Israel, the answer was “I Am.” Uniquely among the Gospels, Jesus in the Gospel of John never teaches in parables. Instead, he expresses his divinity in multiple sayings where he connects himself to the God of Israel, proclaiming “Before Abraham was, I Am.” We will look back on the “I Am” sayings and what they tell us about God as revealed in Jesus Christ. We will also look back at how the nine Enduring Principles of the gospel are reflected in the Gospel of John. How are the Enduring Principles of Community of Christ reflected in the Gospel of John?
