Buy the album Frozen in Time at www.lindymusic.com You came back in November As cold as the weather Everything freezing so fast Trying to get back the feeling From the heat you’d been stealing We both knew that it couldn’t last It’s a long way to walk through the snow To fan the flames of a love you already know For me it is frozen in time And melting won’t make you mine I took the chill from your hands dear But still you couldn’t get warm here Frost on the tears in your eye As the Spring thaws the spirit You could already hear it The sound of my saying good-bye It’s a long way to walk through the snow To fan the flames of a love you already know For me it is frozen in time And melting won’t make you mine Animation by Mike Gatti Editing and performance footage by Darren Hutchings Lindy Vopnfjord Acoustic Guitar and Vocals Rick May Bass Guitar Luke Doucet Electric Guitar Todor Kobakov Vibraphone, Rhodes Piano, Percussion and Drums Engineered by Jeremy Darby and Julian De Corte at Canterbury Music Company Toronto Engineered by Todor Kobakov at Kobakov Sound Toronto Mixed by Todor Kobakov at Kobakov Sound Toronto Produced by Todor Kobakov MELTING "Melting was written at the Reykjavik Folk Festival. The Icelandic artists performing there were mind blowing. Like lava and glaciers, Icelandic poetry and music are always claiming new ground. And while I was there, the weather kept changing drastically every five minutes. It was like I was transported to another world." *** “Melting” matches Vopnfjord’s perfectly penned poetics to the eeriest of moods, and melancholy permeates thanks to the haunting guitars of Toronto musician, Luke Doucet. Combined, the effect of love lost or spurned will send chills down your spine. Where “Lover/Sister” from Vopnfjord’s Young Waverer album stood out as the track that entranced the listener consistently with its cautious tale about caring and accidental love, here, “Melting” continues the magic of stopping any listener dead in their tracks. The song starts tragic: “You came back in November / As cold as the weather / Everything freezing so fast / Trying to get back the feeling / From the heat you’ve been stealing / We both knew that it couldn’t last.” Betrayal is captured so beautifully in epic poetic imagery of Vopnfjord’s lyrics, casting a dark spell on a story with girth. The lover lost and led astray returns to make amends but finds the amorous memory for them frozen in time, and no heat can unlock the sentiment: “It’s a long way to walk through the snow / To fan the flames of a love that you already know / To me it is frozen in time / And melting won’t make you mine.” Gritty, and lush, Vopnfjord’s gentle undertones again strike a note of vulnerability and sorrow that stirs the soul in ways few artists can manage so simply – yet powerfully. -Sylvie Hill
