“Cantaloupe Island” is a jazz-funk classic composed by Herbie Hancock in 1964 and first released on the album Empyrean Isles. Its hypnotic groove and minimalistic harmonic structure have made it a favorite among musicians and listeners across generations. In this vibrant live version, Alessandro Bertozzi and his ensemble bring a 90s electric jazz flair to the tune, merging funk textures and improvisation with high-level musicianship. Part of the Electric Jam Session project, this performance pays tribute to Hancock’s vision while adding a contemporary voice.
