America Deserves Better Sunscreen

Outdated sunscreen regulations are keeping Americans from better sun protection. We deserve more transparency from the FDA — and clarity on which ingredients are truly safe and effective. Take oxybenzone, for example, it’s still widely used in U.S. sunscreens, even though studies suggest it may harm our health. The FDA has asked the industry for more safety data on ingredients like this, but those studies haven’t been provided. Meanwhile, potentially safer and more effective ingredients used in Europe and Asia remain stuck in U.S. regulatory limbo. And now, with staffing cuts at the FDA, progress could slow down even more — leaving consumers in the dark and better options out of reach. Bottom line: Americans deserve better.
