A Complete Explore Of The Winter Sun Mine

This is an interesting placer drift mine that Chuck, Tyler and I recently explored... The mine is fairly old, but has been extensively rehabbed over the years. So, the interior of the mine is host to a curious mix of new and old. Of particular interest, it has the most complete timbering that any of us had ever seen inside of a mine. And, lastly, being able to explore deep inside of a placer mine and to actually see the ancient river gravel is a rare treat. In our experience, almost all of the placer drift mines we explore are plagued by collapses as the placer is not very structurally sound. As such, we frequently make our entrance into a placer drift mine only to be blocked by a collapse once we have moved past the hard rock features of a mine. Fortunately, that was not the case at this mine and we were able to completely explore this extraordinary abandoned mine.
