Hey guys, welcome to day 2 of my week off. Today I am sharing my recipe for home made hoof dressing. It's super easy and cheap to make and it works great. I have struggled for years to find a really good hoof dressing, especially for Blue with his extremely dry hooves, so I decided to have a go at making my own. I researched some possible ingredients and ended up settling on lard, coconut oil and bayleaf. As it turns out, this is a pretty good combination, it's really easy to melt them together, it goes on the hooves beautifully, it smells nice, it stores well, and most importantly it really does nourish the hooves. I have gone from daily applications with the worse hooves I have ever known, to twice weekly applications since using this! Recipe ; 4x packs or 1kg of lard 1x pot or 300ml of coconut oil 5-10 bayleaves (I bought whole ones as this is what I could find, I expect you could buy them ready ground online or in specialist stores if you wanted to make it easier) You will need some way to melt your ingredients (I used a bowl over a saucepan of water, but you could use a microwave), some way to crush your bayleaves, and you will need something to put your finished product in (I just use old supplement or treat buckets). Why I chose these ingredients ... Lard is highly moisturizing and a very affordable bulking agent. Coconut oil is again highly moisturizing and also anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and a whole load of other things I can't pronounce (it's great stuff basically!) Bay leaf is anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and has a whole host of other uses. If you into that kind of thing, I highly recommend reading up on all it's properties as it was quite an eye opener for me. I had no idea this simple plant had so many benifits. And that's it ... 3 ingredients, melt together, let it set, and your good to go 💕 If you are enjoying our videos and would like to see more then please like, comment and subscribe (it really helps us to reach more people) Thank you so much for supporting our channel!! .............................................................................................................................
