'Juvenile Delinquent' is one of the most popular songs written and performed by the band. It is also one of the best known. It is a chant that so many people can connect to and empathise with, describing so well the experience of ghetto youth back in the 80s. Today the message is still as relevant as it was then particularly at a time when youth unemployment across Europe and the world is so high. This song features on the band's debut album simply titled 'Black Roots' released back in 1983. The version shown here was filmed live at The Studio in Bristol in June 1986 and features legendary Jamaican trombone player Vin Gordon. Sound was recorded live and mixed by Mad Professor. Produced and Directed by 12 Bar Video © 1987 Nubian Records LYRICS Every day dem walkin', walkin' the streets to kill time No money in their pockets, so now dem must commit crime Oh, leaders what can you do to help the situation? From stoppin’ the youth-man getting more conviction They're just a juvenile delinquent CHORUS Juvenile delinquent, yeah Juvenile delinquent, juvenile delinquent, oh yeah Driving them big cars from town to town, yeah Not sparing a thought for the youths without food Corrupting them and then you moan, now Corrupting the youths and then you moan They're just a juvenile delinquent CHORUS Juvenile delinquent, juvenile delinquent Juvenile delinquent, hear them REPEAT CHORUS
