#outdoors #JimBairdAdventurer #manitobafishing Beyond the Height-of-Land | 25 Days of High Adventure Camping in the Northern Manitoba Wild - E.7 - Bushcraft Sail & Outpost Cabin. Outdoor life at its best, @TheRealTedBaird Outdoors and I are in the wild north on a wilderness adventurer wild camp and bushcraft survival trip, trekking, portaging, and paddling across Northern Manitoba fishing for food en route. We're questing for the Hudson Bay traveling a remote river. The off-grid fly-in fishing lodge on Big Sand Lake left a grill and picnic tables at the campsite we were at for shore lunch. After over the fire cooking dehydrated food for dinner, we climbed into the tent and sleeping bags for a well-deserved sleep. Strong winds continued into the morning so we rigged a canoe sail using bushcraft survival techniques and sailed much of massive, Big Sand Lake. Finally, the winds died late in the evening and the lake was calm. We used our folding saw to saw apart the canoe catamaran and we pulled down the sail. Going back to our kayak paddles, we had a celebratory shot after completing Big Sand Lake but were paddling hard, trying to bang of a final 12 km to meet our required distance. Soon, it was very late and almost dark. There was literally nowhere to camp and we were getting worried. The exhaustion and hunger had begun to wear on our patience and we got into a couple pretty heated arguments. Amazingly though, I saw a cabin as I rounded a corner. What a sight for sore eyes! The outpost cabins belonged to Big Sand Lodge and provided welcomed shelter that night.
