The boundaries delimitation cases could be delayed, after 2 lawyers challenged presiding Judge Mohamed Warsame to disqualify himself from the 5 judge bench, over allegations of perceived bias. Lawyers Kibe Mungai and Kethi Kilonzo insisted that Judge Warsame had made a ruling in 2010 on the 2009 population census, a key component in the process of determining new electoral units. However lawyers representing other litigants in the boundaries cases urged Warsame to stay put, terming the disqualification challenge untenable. But as Francis Gachuri reports, at stake is the critical voter registration and other preparatory exercises, ahead of the upcoming general election.
