Welcome everyone, and thank you for joining me for another episode of Where U Beans!? Today, where I Beans be is in the stunning North Scottsdale at Brown’s Ranch—a true desert mountain biking gem. This ride takes us through the rolling hills of the high Sonoran Desert, offering breathtaking views, native flora, and some of the most fun singletrack trails in the area. I kicked off the ride at the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead, hopping on my trusty Rocky Mountain hardtail. From there, I headed out on Latigo Trail, which sets the tone with smooth, flowing singletrack through wide-open desert terrain. Next up was Whiskey Bottle Trail, offering fun rollers and a bit of playful technicality, followed by Black Hill Trail leading into the Granite Mountain Loop—a must-ride for its scenic views and rolling desert climbs. From Granite Mountain, I connected to Balanced Rock, a short but fun trail that highlights some of the unique rock formations in the area. The ride continued onto Cholla Mountain Loop, where the iconic Cathedral Rock comes into view—a perfect photo opportunity and a reminder of just how beautiful the Sonoran Desert can be. From there, I rolled through Watershed Trail, which provides a smooth, flowy descent, before finishing strong on Chuckwagon Trail, a classic Brown’s Ranch singletrack that wraps up the loop perfectly. The full lap came in at just over 16 miles with around 1,000 feet of elevation gain—enough to challenge your legs while keeping the ride fun and rewarding. Brown’s Ranch delivers a great mix of flowy singletrack, technical challenges, and incredible desert scenery, making it a top choice for mountain bikers in the Scottsdale area.
