Take a deep dive into one transgender individual's journey through gender-affirming care with this educational and personal documentary. Follow their reflections, challenges, and triumphs in the year 2021 as they document their journey with an honest look at the road to top surgery. For many transgender individuals in the United States, accessing gender-affirming care is expensive and time-consuming. It is also crucial to improving their quality of life and mental health. I chose to record myself once per day during the week leading up to my long-anticipated double mastectomy. Now, years later, I have put those videos together into one full-length film, complete with commentary from my present-day self. If you like slice-of-life documentaries or video diaries, or if you are looking to gain insight into the experience of transgender individuals such as myself, you will find value in this video. This documentary is very real and raw. It is my actual video diary, portraying my reflections on actual events that occurred in my life during the year 2021. I talk about anxiety, depression, hopefulness, relationships, and big life changes. Not only does this video contain my reflections in the moment, but my retrospection into such a tumultuous time in my life. Once I finally had top surgery, a goal I had been striving toward since 2017, I was finally on the road to healing and recovery -- not just physically.
