Travel to the only preserved Monastery from the Middle Ages in Norway. The Utstein Kloster is a place for calm and peace, and to find out the long history of this place. In this calm landscape, lies the Utstein Monastery, one of the country's finest landmarks dating all the way back to the Middle Ages. At the Monastery, you can get a complete guided tour of the museum. Discover all the different eras the monastery has witnessed and their remains in the current structure. It has served as the royal residence of the very first Viking king of Norway; Harald Fairhair. She, like many at the time, died in childbirth. But before the fateful birth began, she made the man promise that he would not remarry if the fatal thing happened. He kept his promise for 20 years before he wanted to remarry. Due to the promise, he did not dare to perform the marriage at the monastery but went to the cathedral. When he was at the cathedral and goes up the aisle towards his new wife, the deceased Cecilia shows up for him and he falls over.
