Millions of animals are transported through the European Union every year. I have been working in the European Parliament for more than 7 years to better animal welfare during transport on our roads. Unfortunately, there is a big anti-animal welfare lobby working against those betterments. At this point it is just an international trade business as this type of live animal transport is a result of our perverse globalised agricultural system.
