By mixing and matching your materials there are many different jigs you can tie and match the hatch to fit your needs. I used VMC Neon Moon Eye jigs nice hooks and no longer lead collar just the shank. It makes tying easier and needs less material. There are lots of materials you can use for your tail but I’m sticking to bucktail, marabou and hackle for these jigs. You probably already have them and there are many more combinations than I showed. Flash materials, rubber legs, hackle and more can be used for your lateral line. Barred hackle really adds good color variations as does rubber legs. Rubber legs can be used for the wing instead of marabou. Flash even which is great for walleye and pike jigs because they are kind of trashy. Flashy jigs are like meth to them. The lower you get in your buck tail the more it naturally flares. Good gel spun thread is strong which does a great job of forcing the bucktail to obey. Flare to match your needs. I flared it a lot in the video it’s gonna shine in flat water. A hackle tail then marabou with a bucktail collar rubber legs for the wing and flash lateral line is a stellar jig just not much fun to lose. It’s fun to try and fish fancier hair jigs but it’s not gossip. Less is always more when it comes to materials. When you use a lot of materials they tend to clump and lose movement. Take advantage of winter get some tying done and call in sick to work when the fishing is good and your boxes are full.
