Gangster Comedy Short Film - Banana Pearl (Feat Saffron Sprackling Republica) By Ben Simon Banana Pearl logline: After failing to deliver an apparently un-crackable code, Deejay and his computer-whiz acid casualty mate Lenny end up on the run from Champagne Charlie, a ruthless gangster known for her quirky methods of coercion. This is a fast-paced slice of Brit-gangster mayhem in which things aren't always what they seem. Short Synopsis: Made on a shoe string budget by up-and-coming Brighton based filmmaker Ben Simon, Banana Pearl feels like a much higher budget short. Featuring performances from Saffron Sprackling, front women of 90's Brit-pop band Republica and Toby Osmond (Kaufman's Game), this is a race against time tale of 2 friends trying to break an apparently un-crackable code for Champaign Charlie (played by Saffron) a ruthless local gangster. If Deejay can keep Lenny, his computer-whiz, acid casualty mate off the Banana Pearl (a new strain of super strong Marijuana) and focus on cracking the code, they can both avoid finding out how Champagne Charlie earned her nickname. Boasting a pumping soundtrack, this is a fast-paced slice of Brit-gangster mayhem in which things aren't always what they seem.
