It's Not Too Late | Red Dead Online: The Game Rockstar Left Behind

Red Dead Online captured the spirit of the American frontier... then Rockstar shot it in the back and rode off into the sunset with Grand Theft Auto. Red Dead Online is one of our favorite games of all time. The roleplay potential, the pacing, the immersion—you can practically feel the wind in your face and smell the campfire smoke in your clothes. But as much as we love it, we’re also still mourning it. Because Rockstar walked away after just three and a half years—and left behind a half-finished masterpiece that somehow still speaks to the hearts and souls of its most dedicated player base. In this commentary video, Twist and Amethine talk about what made RDO so special, what Rockstar actually got right, and how things could’ve gone differently if they hadn’t traded the frontier for the freeway. Because as it stands, there’s still nothing else like it. You can’t find this level of immersion, freedom, and cowboy roleplay anywhere else. The frontier may be quiet, but it ain't empty. Red Dead Online doesn't have to be a dead game. It has always had the potential for so much. And a whole lot of heart sworn, dedicated players are still out here, waiting for Rockstar to come back and finish what they started.
