Today we're checking out the grand opening of the brand new Bandai Namco Cross Store in Brooklyn, New York! This is North America's first official store in the chain, and similar to its sister stores abroad, it combines multiple sections each focusing on different Bandai Namco properties, along with a huge wall of Gashapon capsule machines as well as a small arcade featuring some rare games you don't typically see outside of Japan at the moment! The hype for this was real; people started lining up around the block early Friday morning to be some of the first people inside, especially with the hugely popular One Piece Card Game guaranteed to be in stock. They were enforcing limits to ensure everyone who lined up could get some of what they want. But even inside the store itself, it was super crowded and hard to maneuver. I'm sure once the opening hype dies down it'll be a little more manageable. Personally, I made a beeline straight to the back of the shop for the Namco arcade to check out what they had to offer. While it's not the biggest arcade, it was cool to finally get around to trying several of these. Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. 2 Overboost was brand new to me and an absolute blast to play, with a ton of mechs to choose from. I went for the Nobel Gundam from G Gundam (aka the Sailor Moon Gundam), and won several CPU matches even though I was just learning the controls. I also got a chance to see and try Animal Kaiser Plus for the first time! It feels very similar to the recent Naruto Emblem Battle, where there's really not much of a game to go on, but the attack animations are so silly and over the top, and you get a free collectible card with every play. Taiko no Tatsujin was the clear winner here, though, with a constant line of people waiting to play. It's great to be able to play on an official cab for once on the East Coast, but the pricing leaves something to be desired, with one $2 token only giving you a single offline song to play. Hopefully this can be adjusted in the future. And Maximum Tune 5DX+ -- what more needs to be said about this? There's a gigantic fanbase for this game, and while it's never really caught me in its grasp, it was fun to try for the first time. I'm looking forward to making a return trip once the lines die down, not just to play the games, but also to get some of that sweet, sweet merch. If you're in the NYC area, definitely make a trip out to Brooklyn and check this place out! 00:00 Intro / exterior 00:31 Entering the store 01:01 Inside the store 01:30 Arcade section 02:37 Tamagotchi & Tamashii Nations 03:55 Sun-Star, Pac-Man Select, & MegaHouse 05:25 One Piece Card Game 05:44 Bandai Spirits 07:16 Gashapon 08:01 BONUS FOOTAGE: Animal Kaiser Plus gameplay Website: https://shop.bandainamco-am.com/locat...
