A grand day's hike to Stok La pass, at an altitude of 4846 meters, ascended from Rumbak/Zinchen side. I did the route-opening after this winter in March, previous attempts to reach the pass this year were unsuccessful, even by locals. It is a famous mod-difficult grade route, but due to extensive waist deep snow and poor weather, I'd become horribly hopeless in finding the correct trails. I relied on OpenStreetMaps for staying proximal to known route. The way down though was far more treacherous, since I knew each step that I was taking uphill was impossible to retrace - I had to slide down on steep scree using a wooden stick as a third point of support. The weather of course improved after my descent was complete. Track 🎶 : Mountains of Creation, by Chon (Debut Album) A note about the astonishing geological features seen in the video : They're most probably sedimentary layers that have turned 90 degrees due to tectonic collision during the formation of Himalayas. Further through erosion, some layers have persisted and withstood other forces.
