Tignes-Val d'Isère is the 8th largest ski and snowboard resort in the world. A helpful way to break down the terrain, which is spread over multiple mountains, is to divide it into six segments from left to right on the trail map as follows: 1) Montet - The highest elevation slope in this section is also the furthest left that you can go on the trail map, Aiguille Pers. As a blue slope on the French ski slope rating system, it's great for beginners and beginning intermediates. At a certain point, there's a split in the slope, where you can head to the right to explore some steeper terrain on Combe du Geant, a red slope. Alternatively, if you head to the left, you stay on Aiguille Pers. 2) Val d'Isère - The highest slope in this section is a red slope, Cugnai. Red slopes tend to be perfect for advanced intermediates. Cugnai is located at the top of the Cugnai chairlift and is the shortest of the slopes on this list. The majority of the surrounding slopes are for intermediates and beginners, so Cugnai can be a great quick challenge for intermediates in the area. 3) Borsat - This area has the largest number of green slopes in the resort, so it's perfect for beginners. The highest elevation slope is Genepy, a great way for beginners to enjoy a run that seems never to end. 4) Grand Motte - The highest slope in this section is at the highest elevation in Tignes-Val d'Isère: slope number 9, Glacier. It's a red slope that is groomed with a combination of steep and flatter terrain. 5) Val Claret - The highest elevation slope in Val Claret is Pramecou, but the Col de Ves chairlift was closed when I was there, so I skied Boarder Cross, starting first with some wide open terrain to the skier's right and then joining up with Boarder Cross midway through. 6) Tignes 2100 - The highest elevation slope in this section is Aiguille Persee, which is the most advanced slope of those on this list.
