This video is dedicated to two legendary Lancia rally cars in "Safari" configuration filmed during some Goodwood Festival of Speed editions. The Rally 037 is the official Lancia car that, in 1985, took part in the Safari Rally of Kenya in Africa with the crew Vic Preston/John Lyall. Unfortunately, due to suspension problems, they had to retire. The curious thing is that Lancia wanted to win this rally, and the car remained in Africa practically permanently and was used to develop the car for the 1986 season. Despite retiring from the rally in 1985, the vehicle with Vic Preston took part in the Kenyan Rally Championship, winning ten of the twelve races. The car was sold in Kenya and later brought to England by the collector Dave Kedward, who restored it without changing its original features. Indeed, the significant differences compared to a traditional 037 are a higher ground clearance, reinforced suspension, a triple fuel tank to allow long distances, a tubular protection structure for the front of the car and a system for carrying the spare wheel on the roof. The rear-wheel drive 037 Group B is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a volumetric compressor. The latest versions from 1985 could develop 350 hp at 8,000 rpm. The second car is the legendary Lancia Delta HF Integrale Group A, also in "Safari" specs. This model, driven by the Juha Kankkunen/Juha Piironen crew, achieved second place in the 1992 Safari Rally of Kenya. Lancia again won the world rally manufacturers' champion in this season for the fifth consecutive year (6 in total for the Delta model). The four-wheel drive car at the time was powered by an incredible evolution of the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine capable of developing over 350 hp at 7,000 rpm, 6-speed manual transmission. In the Safari version, the engine received a 30% reduction in power to preserve its reliability, given this competition's long stretches and extreme conditions. We also found a reinforced chassis, specific suspension, the "snorkel" to cross rivers, additional lights and much more that considerably increased its weight. La 037 Gruppo B a trazione posteriore è mossa dal motore quattro cilindri da 2.0-Litri di cilindrata con sovralimentazione garantita da un compressore volumetrico. Le ultime versioni del 1985 erano capaci di sviluppare 350 hp ad 8.000 giri/min. La seconda vettura è la mitica Lancia Delta HF Integrale Gruppo A, anche lei in allestimento "Safari". Questo modello quidato dall'equipaggio Juha Kankkunen/Juha Piironen ottenne un secondo posto al Safari Rally del Kenya nel 1992. In questa stagione Lancia vinse nuovamente il titolo di campione del mondo costruttori rally per il quinto anno consecutivo (6 in totale per il modello Delta). L'auto con trazione integrale all'epoca è mossa da un'incredibile evoluzione del motore 2.0-Litri 4 cilindri turbo capace di svilupare oltre 350 hp a 7.000 giri/min, cambio manuale a 6 rapporti. Nella versione Safari il motore riceve una riduzione del 30% in potenza per preservarne l'affidabilità visto i lunghi tratti e le condizioni estreme di questa competizione.
