Hey Pretty Birds? How are you holding up this week? I know many of you are exhausted from last week's sad events. I am sending you a hug in solidarity. I am also sharing this Vlog of my stay at Villa Làrio as a little moment of escape and distraction. As Audre Lorde brilliantly stated, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” I came upon Villa Làrio, a refurbished 19th century estate, when the owners Flore and Richard invited me for a few days to discover the property. Located in Pognana Lario, near Bellagio, the all-suit luxury hotel is a harmonious blend of traditional Como architecture and contemporary decor. Flore and Richard have lovingly renovated the structure with the utmost respect to Como artisanal style and technique while working with the interior design Brand Castagna 1939 to infuse the resort with today's aesthetic mood and energy. As some of you may know from last year's AD feature of my apartment, I am a personal fan of mixing antique with modern decor, so I felt right at home in my room and in the other common areas. Beyond the indoor spaces, the views and gardens are spectacular and lush. When we arrived the lake was in a mood, but by our second day, it had stilled to its usual picturesque glory. The Villa's green spaces are peaceful and inviting and are the backdrop of idle lounging, joyful groups, long kisses... and most importantly, welcoming spaces for the entire family.
