Beeswing, released in 1994 on Richard Thompson's album Mirror Blue, a tale about a travelling girl and the prices that she and the young man who falls in love with her pay for the choices they make. This is one of those songs that always moves me, the lyrics, the melody, it's something special. I wanted to do my own take, and make a more rousing version! I even played the bodhran for this one 😄 Drums, acoustic guitar, piano, accordion, bass, strings, tambourine, and bodhran! P.S. This song contains my favourite lyric of all time... 'I said to her we'll settle down, get a few acres dug A fire burning in the hearth, and babies on the rug She said 'oh man you foolish man, that surely sounds like hell, You might be lord of half the world, you'll not own me as well' Brilliant ☝️ Thanks for listening folks! 🎧🎼
