It was founded about 60–70 years ago by approximately 24 families who migrated from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) to work as laborers on the construction of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. ​After the dam was completed, these families chose to stay back, settling in the hilly terrain near the reservoir's backwaters. Today, the village is a thriving community of over 1,000 residents, primarily involved in fishing—a craft they brought with them from the Andhra coast. ​🚣 Key Attractions & Activities ​The main draw of Vizag Colony is its serene landscape, where rolling hills meet the vast, calm waters of the Krishna River. ​Boating to "Mysterious" Islands: You can take a boat ride across the backwaters. A popular destination is Yelleswaragattu Island, which offers panoramic views. ​Camping: Many visitors choose to stay overnight in tents along the shore or on the islands. It’s a great spot for stargazing and campfires. ​Local Seafood: The colony is famous for its fresh catch.
