At 12:29 p.m the motorcade turned onto Houston Street and entered Dealey Plaza. One minute later, at 12:30, it made a sharp left onto Elm Street, a downward-sloping road. As the limousine entered the plaza, Nellie Connally turned to the president and said, "Mr. President, they can't make you believe there aren't some in Dallas who love and appreciate you, can they?"
