Grand Teton National Park Lodging I Colter Bay Village Cabins

Complete Tour of Colter Bay Village Cabins 2 Night Stay Inside Grand Teton National Park. Gas Station, Grocery Store, Gift Shop. Hi Guys, this is my experience at the Colter Bay Village in Grand Teton National Park. I traveled from Yellowstone National Park after 2 days there and visited Grand Teton for 2 days. Then back to Yellowstone for a few more days. Grand Teton is spectacular so if you can, please visit especially if you’re already coming to Yellowstone. Colter Bay Village is a one hour drive from Old Faithful without any traffic. However, since there is usually construction, it could take 2 hours or more. The closest airport to Colter Bay Village is Jackson Hole, about 45 minutes away. Remember to get a park pass. Each National Park charges a fee or you could get the annual pass that includes the fee for all national parks. That’s best if you plan on traveling to a few national parks during the year. From the entrance, colter bay village is 19 miles. It’s on the northeast side of Jackson Lake. Book online at Grand Teton Lodge Company. It’s best to book many months, even up to a year in advance if you want to stay at one of the Grand Teton Lodges. They do fill up quickly. Colter Bay Village is the most affordable option as you can see from the prices. There are regular cabins and tent cabins. The tent cabins are about $100 a night - there are no electrical outlets. You have to bring bedding or rent it. Use public restrooms and shower at the Launderette in the village for a fee. The standard cabins with a private bath are about $320 a night including taxes. I believe the cabins with a shared bath are about $170 a night. One night fee is charged at the time of booking. You can cancel 3 days before check in to get a refund minus a $15 fee which is great because it was 30 days for the Yellowstone Lodges. Go to check in, get your room key and lots of information. The receptionists are very helpful and give you plenty of tips on what to see and do. There are also a few menus and maps on the board. Drive to your actual log cabin. There are little side roads with sections of numbered cabins. There are 2 cabins side by side, each with parking right in front. That’s convenient as it rained pretty much every day. I booked a room with one double and one twin bed good for 3 people. I wasn’t expecting such a spacious and neat cabin. There are two side tables with lamps and a chair. Another wooden chair. A good sized armoire and another table by the bathroom with extra towels, ice bucket and cups. The bathroom is also spacious with a window. Towels, tissues, hooks. There was an actual hair dryer which is an unexpected luxury. Soap, shampoo and shower gel. Outlets. The shower worked fine and there was no issue with hot water. It’s a beautiful log cabin and worth it especially if you’ve never stayed in a log cabin. Looks rustic on the outside but you have all the basic comforts on the inside. There’s an alarm clock, each lamp base has an outlet as well as others on the wall. The armoire had some extra blankets. A ceiling fan. The heater which I used since it can be cold in the morning even in August. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. These cabins were built in the 1920’s and their history is on the wall. Cell service was ok, I had verizon and was able to send texts from the cabin. There is free wifi by the restaurant, office and grocery store. Coffee maker would have been nice during my stay however, this was put here when I was checking out. The front desk said they are just starting to provide coffee makers in the cabins. So, by the time you visit, it should be here. The Colter Bay Village Convenience Store is a 3 minute drive and has a gas station and store with coffee, sandwiches, snacks, toiletries and gifts. I think I bought sunscreen from here and it was $10 for a tiny tube so don’t forget to bring your own. The Grocery store is a 2 minute drive and has plenty of prepared food and fresh produce, even kimchi, cast iron pans, a cafe and a big gift shop. There’s also a sport shop, visitors center, tour information, horseback rides, raft trips, bus tours. The Colter Bay marina is just a few minutes from here and there’s parking right in front and a few trails. I found the location of Colter Bay Cabins to be ideal. It’s close to everything you need. Colter Bay is named after John Colter who was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition. A mountain man who is thought to be the first man of european descent to explore yellowstone and see grand teton. When you visit Grand Teton, you’ll feel like an explorer too. There are so many trails and stunning views. I’ll be uploading a full video on my Grand Teton and Yellowstone trip.
