Installing SteamOS on a budget Ryzen APU-powered mini PC, and playing older & lighter weight games. Although Steam Decks and competing handhelds are proving popular now, Valve's original plan for the SteamOS variant of Linux centred on console-like "Steam Machines". While this plan was abandoned years ago, the Steam Deck ISO has been made available by Valve - ostensibly to allow the OS to be installed on competing handhelds, but there's nothing stopping us from installing SteamOS on any PC we want, and bringing the Steam Machine concept back to life. Thanks to Minisforum, I've taken the opportunity to install SteamOS on one of their budget mini PCs, the UM750L Slim.
