After a few days in Tafraoute, getting some paintwork done on my camper, visiting the Painted Rocks, and seeing the Lion's Head, I left the campsite to continue east to Ouarzazate. Once again I found myself on some rough roads but I do like to get off the usual routes and explore. I spent one night in Talioune before arriving in Ouarzazate. On the outskirts of the town are the film studios where many big films have been made like Gladiator and Cleopatra. It is also possible to visit the abandoned film set of the 2006 American-made horror film "The Hills Have Eyes". I have visited the studios twice before so on this occasion, I didn't stop but they are worth visiting if you haven't seen them before. Ten kilometres from Ouarzazate is the world's largest concentrated solar plant which can generate 510MW of power and an additional 72MW from a photovoltaic system and cost the Moroccans an estimated $2.5 billion to build.
