Begin by putting the outside foot all the way down to 6 o'clock when entering the turn. The goal of this drill is to simplify other aspects of cornering to better center yourself over the bottom bracket where the crank arms attach. I recommend riders do about 10 laps using footwork as shown in the drill above, then do 3-4 'One-Footed Turns' and then move back to your Flatland Turn practice. You might notice this drill moves you slightly forward on the bike. We often see big shifts with riders when we incorporate this into our class time. ⭐️ Pro-Tip: Make sure you begin by entering the turn at 6 o'clock, which is not the way we'll actually be cornering. This is simply to find the center of the bike. ⚠️ Pro-Tip: Try to avoid locking the outside knee. This is a super common issues riders have, especially on their 'second favorite side'. Be sure there is enough bend in the standing knee to drive it forward over the toe.
