Conbility´s 2D Tape Placement Machine: laser-assisted net shaped in-situ consolidation

CONBILITY´s key-ready and laser-safe 2D Tape Placement Machine has an integrated 4 kW Diode Laser System (by Laserline) and a 3-tape-spool-applicator. Both, laser power and number of spools are scalable as well as the 1,5 m diameter of the heating table. Each tape can be processed individually by cut-and-add-on-the-fly. The laser-assisted in-situ consolidation allows for very cost- and energy efficient production of thermoplastic composite sheets without the need of cost-intensive and energy-consuming post-consolidation processes. Furthermore, different thickness areas can be produced within one laminate. Depending on the tape material, the process speed can be increased up to 1 m/s. The machine is suitable for all thermoplastic tape materials (from PP to PEEK) and for all fiber materials (e.g. carbon fiber, glass fiber, etc.) Based on a long term cooperation with Fraunhofer IPT the machine system is a result of a development cooperation between CONBILITY and IPT. CONBILITY provides this key ready machine system as well as individual configurations (table diameters, tape widths, number of spools, etc.). Furthermore, CONBILITY offers test trials and job shop manufacture of thermoplastic tape-based composite sheets with in-situ consolidation at CONBILITY´s technical Center in Herzogenrath (TPH), Kaiserstraße 100.
