The difference between an abuser and a narcissist is one of the most misunderstood topics in toxic and emotionally abusive relationships. Many people assume that all abuse comes from narcissism — but that isn’t true. In this video, I explain why not all abusers are narcissists, why many narcissists do become abusive, and why these two patterns are so often confused by victims living inside the relationship. Abuse is defined by repeated behaviors that create fear, instability, and loss of emotional safety. Narcissism, however, is rooted in a personality structure shaped by emotional fragility, shame sensitivity, identity instability, and a deep need for external validation. While the behaviors can look similar, the psychological drivers are very different. In this video, we explore: – The true definition of abuse – What narcissism actually is (and what it isn’t) – Why some abusers are not narcissistic at all – Why many narcissists do become abusive – How entitlement, power, misogyny, emotional immaturity, and learned violence drive non-narcissistic abuse – Why victims feel confused, destabilized, and emotionally exhausted – Why you don’t need a diagnosis to validate your pain If you’ve experienced emotional chaos, gaslighting, manipulation, chronic invalidation, or fear in a relationship, this video is meant to provide clarity, grounding, and validation, not labels. Your experience matters. Your nervous system tells the truth. And your healing does not depend on what the other person is called.
