This a short video sequence I did (with patient's permission to video) for a patient post hip arthroscopy to address hip flexor strength and coordinate it with core strength when the patient has LIMITED hip internal rotation due to hip dysplasia - specifically due to femoral retroversion. Femoral retroversion is a structural/morphological issue in the hip that limits a person's hip internal rotation, and gives them excessive hip external rotation. This condition is a factor in hip dysplasia, but it does not preclude anyone from having a good hip arthroscopy outcome, or returning to sport. It's just that they may need to modify their movements, as I recommend in this video. If you are a runner with femoral retroversion, toeing out is going to be necessary in order to protect the hip. This goes for sitting, squatting, driving, and standing too - toeing out instead of toes straight ahead, is protective of the hip joint. Returning to running, as I am working on with this patient, requires normalizing all strength and range of motion, as well as activities like plyometrics, first. Here, we are working on psoas strength, since it is one of the last limiting variables for many folks, among others.
