The process covers all the key stages of the overhaul — from piston assembly and installation into the cylinder block, to cylinder head cleaning and reassembly, and finally the installation of the timing chains. • We start with installing new piston rings using special expanders to avoid deformation. The ring gaps are arranged in a triangular pattern for even pressure distribution and better sealing. All parts are lubricated with engine oil, and the pistons are carefully installed into the block with the help of a ring compressor. Connecting rods are torqued to spec, and we check the crankshaft rotation to ensure smooth movement without binding. • Next comes the cylinder head. The intake ports were heavily clogged with carbon deposits, typical for diesel engines with EGR systems. We thoroughly clean them to restore proper airflow. New intake valves are installed, while the exhaust valves are reused after inspection and lapping. Valve stem seals are replaced, and all valves are lapped to ensure perfect sealing and compression. The entire head undergoes full cleaning, preparation, and precise assembly — a critical step for stable compression, lower oil consumption, and long engine life. • Finally, we install the timing chain system. This engine uses two chains: the lower one drives the oil pump and balance shafts, and the upper one drives the camshafts. Both are installed strictly by timing marks.
