Honestly I had not even ever expected ZUN would have done an egyptian themed touhou character. But well as far as this arrangement is concerned it was quite interesting trying to balance the two aspects that would clash if not done carefully, as in that nareko’s theme relies a lot on the backing string melodies vs that in changui there aren’t enough instruments nor violins to pull that off so I had to resort to getting flutes and cornetas chinas lmao. It was certainly a challenge to get it to work in the end. As for the translated title, yes I went for the slang route because the title is extremely long anyways lmao. Certainly directed at reimu or marisa in this case. If I ever delve into it more I could try shaabi or mahraganat with this theme, but the issues of using maqams and the detachment of polyphony would be quite the ones to tackle for just generally music of this sort… #touhoumusic
