Top 10 John Waters Movies of All Time

In this video, we will rank and explore John Waters' 10 greatest movies. There’s a reason John Waters has been given the nickname of The Pope of Trash over the years. And that’s because his movies have always tapped into a grimey, outsider aesthetic. It’s an aesthetic which celebrates all the weirdest and most fringe parts of the world and one which, in doing so, gives audiences a chance to enjoy these strange elements in a way they might never have otherwise. Take his breakout hit Pink Flamingos for example, a cult classic which follows the exploits of a drag queen named Divine who takes pride in being the filthiest person alive. That one was able to introduce Divine and their act to the world. And then of course there are his other cult classic hits, hits like Hairspray, Cry-Baby, and Cecil B. Demented, each of which further established him as one of the premier outsider movie makers of his time. Not that everything John Waters has done has been on the fringes of society of course. No, from time to time he’s dipped his toe into the world of more mainstream entertainment too. And this can be seen in some of his on screen cameo work in movies like Seed of Chucky and Suburban Gothic, or television shows such as Homicide: Life on the Street and The Simpsons. That said, for those who love him, it will always be his weirder side that they love him for the most, the side that pushed the boundaries of taste so much and continues to do so today.
