Restoring the Legendary IWC Calibre C.89 | Iconic IWC Watches History Hey watch enthusiasts! Today, I'm maintaining the legendary IWC calibre C.89, a movement that was in production from 1946 to 1979. In 1944, IWC launched its first worldwide war watch for the British Army. These wristwatches were waterproof and are now known to collectors as the Mark X. They featured central hour and minutes hands and a subsidiary second at 6 o'clock, with an arrow under 12 o'clock to indicate British Government property. The first IWC Mark XI, launched in 1948, were pilot watches ordered by the British Ministry of Defence.
