Gungrave G.O.R.E Review - Misunderstood and Delightful (and A Little Janky). Some things never change lol. Gungrave G.O.R.E is currently taking an absolute beating among mainstream game critics and on steam and both of these factors combine probably mean most players will disregard it as a bad game at this point. However, in my experience playing the game, I could not disagree more with this assessment. I'm not one to sugar coat my reviews, so I will definitely acknowledge the game is kinda of janky and needs more polish with some details, but in this review I really want to dig into the core design of the game which I think is solid. Not only that, but I also feel that many criticisms of the game among modern action game reviewers/fans are actually strengths, so to me it seems like games with weaker level and combat design, like Bayonetta 3 and Sifu, are being rewarded as "masterpieces" by places like IGN and Nintendo Life and games with much stronger level design, like Gungrave, are being punished as "outdated." Right now Gungrave is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and PC/Steam. and if you really dig the game, you can play the earlier titles in the series, Gungrave and Gungrave Overdose on PS2. Also shout out to the Gungrave Anime, which is one of my favorites btw.
