Welcome to Say What You Mean, an English learning channel. I’m Chris. How are you all doing today? I hope you are all fantastic. I’m excellent, thanks! Are you all like me? Do you love to eat? Eating is one of my favorite things to do. I like to cook, but I love to eat out, too! What about you? Do you like cooking? Do you enjoy eating out? If your friends want to go out to eat, do you tell them your favorite places to go–do you make suggestions or recommendations? In today’s video, we’ll practice some words and phrases to give suggestions! In this video, we’ll practice the following forms: suggest (or recommend) + a noun and suggest (or recommend) verb+ing. So, let’s get started! I’m hungry and I haven’t eaten dinner yet–Do you wanna go out to a restaurant? Do you wanna go grab a bite to eat? Can you suggest a good restaurant in your town? When I’m really hungry, I like going to a really good pizza restaurant. I almost always suggest eating pizza and drinking a cold beer, when my friends ask what I want to eat. I also love Asian food. I recommend eating Asian food at least once every two weeks. We have some great Indian restaurants. I like to order my Indian food with a medium level of spice. I suggest NOT ordering the food with native level spice, unless you really like it hot. I did that once, and it was way too spicy for me. I also recommend trying new restaurants in your town. If you don’t go to the new restaurants, they’ll go out of business and then all you have is the same ones you’ve always had. What about street food? Do you like street foods and food trucks? They’re really popular in some places. When you go to a street food festival or a food truck event, I recommend walking around and seeing where the crowds are. A long line is almost always a good sign. If people are waiting, that typically means the food is pretty good. What about fine dining? Do you like going to fancy restaurants? I think they’re nice, but I don't go very often. They are expensive, and sometimes I think the presentation is more important than the food. I don’t normally like 2 bites of food–when I go out, I want to eat big! However, for special occasions, I think fine dining is an okay suggestion. What do you like to eat? Do you have any suggestions for me, when I come to your town? Where do you suggest going? What do you recommend eating? Do you recommend the local pizza place in your town? Would you suggest fine dining or street food? Let us know! Give us some suggestions and leave them in the comments! So, that’s it for today’s video. In this video, we worked on giving suggestions. As always, thanks for listening and watching. If you enjoyed the video, please like and subscribe for more. And if you’d like to book a class, my link is in the channel description.
