"Enhancing the Role of Georgian Emigrants at Home - ERGEM" is a new project aiming at engaging Georgians abroad for development in Georgia. The main objective of the project is to strengthen ties between Georgians abroad and institutions in Georgia. It is an EU-funded project which is being implemented under the leadership of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and a consortium of project partners. The project will target the countries of Germany, Greece and Turkey and will run for 18 months. As indicated by Mr Guy Edmunds, a representative of DRC, by supporting informational services and engaging Georgians living abroad in the economic development of Georgia, it will be possible to enhance the role of Georgian diaspora back home. Ms Keti Gomelauri from the Public Services Development Agency of Georgia highlighted the importance of experience-sharing and contributions of Georgian migrants to the development of specific sectors in Georgia.
