Marie-Pier Lopes' Quest of Identity | Art to Heart

Marie-Pier Lopes' work fuses raw emotions and the human body through a vivid mix of figure and abstraction. Influenced by artists like Kiki Smith and Francis Bacon, her paintings explore inner chaos, distortions of perspective, sensuality, nature, and bodies. A former professional dancer and a visual arts graduate, Marie-Pier recently completed studies in Art Therapy and began teaching, grounding her expressive work in healing, growth and reflection. You may recall her raw and expressive work from our 'Reflections' Portrait show last winter. Currently, Marie-Pier is exploring universal emotions like grief and the personal process of individuation, inviting viewers to look inward. Graduated from the University of Québec in Montréal (2014), she now teaches visual arts and pursues a master's degree in Art Therapy. Her art has been showcased in Canada and in New Orleans. Notable achievements include collaborating on large-scale works for Cirque Eloize's F1 show and and in 2023 she was invited as a panellist for the Kolaj Magazine Collage Festival.
