First time driving my Toyota MR2 Spyder (MRS) 2ZZ on a wet track at Serres Racing Circuit. 00:00 Intro 00:59 Onboard 08:20 Outro Heavy rain changed the car completely, in a way I hadn’t experienced before. The racing line had standing water in multiple places, so I had to use a different line and go much slower. Tires were Nankang CRS semi slicks. The outside edges were finished, so grip was very low. Even on the straights, where the inner side still had tread, aquaplaning was significant. It isn’t obvious on the helmet onboard footage, but it was happening. Overall it was very slippery and needed caution everywhere. Places that demanded extra care: Straight on the left under braking: standing water. Exit of Turn 5. Turn 7 right-side curb. Exit of Turn 16 before the straight. Setup note. The front felt very stiff because I had just installed Whiteline sway bars front and rear. Up front I chose the stiffer of the two settings, which was the wrong call. The next day I changed it, and the balance came together. This video is not about lap time. It’s about what Serres Racing Circuit looks and feels like in heavy rain on worn CRS semi slicks, as a reference for anyone who wants to try it. My recommendation. Go for it. Drive slower.
